How about making this a singles group?
It sounds better. Besides, we could hook up, maybe. You never know.

1. Sounds good to me.
I agree that it would be much better sounding as well.

2. Sounds like a separate mission to me.
I think maybe we need to explore this area, this subject, this condition. Let's give it time and see what develops. I just discovered this group tonight.

I think a singles group is a great idea. But I like the idea of seeing what comes out of this. This is such a taboo topic. It could be very enlightening.

12. agreed...
Loners are not the same as singles. Loners don't seek out others, and may even be seeking ways to get away from others. Members of a singles group, as it's usually understood, have the opposite goal. Singles WANT to find others.

"Loner" = Introverts. I don't see this as a negative condition. It's a personality type or adaptation that actually can have positive benefits as long as it's not taken to the extreme of avoiding all people and relationships. I see this as a support group for this type, rather than a group seeking to cure a lack.

3. That would be a new DU group imo....
This is for people who prefer to be alone a lot, while a singles group would rather not....:-)

4. There are differences. Just like there are differences between
loner singles and mainstream singles. Extros can go out to the bars and stuff, but how do intros hook up? How do we meet people when being around people is so often a painful ordeal?

8. Hmm, she said "gee whiz". The Beaver used to say gee whiz, didn't he?
Maybe she's not so bad after all.

Would you like some of my milk, devilgrrl? It's chocolatey, and mom heated it up for me.

I have lactose intolerance. Did mom make cookies too? I'll take a few of those. :-)

10. I tried suggesting that before...
A separate group for singles.

Skinner had some concerns about it though...

I'm not a loner, so I really don't belong here...

13. your concept for a singles group
sounds good to me, longgrain. Why don't you try to get it going again. I'm sure it could be done in a way that wouldn't cause concern.

11. I'd support a separate singles group.

There was a poll in here and more of us are alone by
choice rather than circumstance, so a having people who
are seeking not to be alone really isn't what this is
all about.

14. I'd go for it.
Maybe a miracle could happen and I could find someone closer to me geographically.
