(Semi-nude): Dry pastel
Oils, collage and mixed media are my usual materials, but I recently got a set of 100 Talens Rembrandt dry pastels and tried them out this week. Sorry for the crappy iPhone photo! :hi:

2. I REALLY like this one Heidi
read about your pic in MissH's morning thread so I had to come over there and take a look.

Your first attempt at dry pastels? Wow! Now I'm even more impressed.

You are very talented and I enjoy your work.

6. Thanks, gf!
It took me a long time to getting around to trying dry pastels. I've used oil pastels -- hate 'em, NOTHING like oil paints. But the soft, dry pastels are so smooth and lush. It's kinda hard to make crap with them.

4. That's pretty amazing.

I've only done one picture in pastels. Years and years ago there was this movie called Nekromantik about a tow truck driver on the German Autobahn who would take bodies from accident scenes and bring them home for him and his girlfriend to have sex with (there's a great scene where she leaves him...and takes the body). My friend and I watched it together and then I went home a drew a pic of necrophilia in pastels...and the funny thing is my friend was inspired to do one in charcoal that night as well. There's no telling what will inspire people.

Needless to say, yours probably has more artistic merit (though dead bodies in pastels works pretty well, I have to say). I'd post it but it would probably get me banned.

Your pic is really amazing work. I really struggle when working with color, but you clearly have it down.

Big thumbs up.

8. I _do_ love color!
That makes it easier to not screw it up. I envy you that you can see values in black and white. I have some kind of brain-to-eyes disconnect that way. x(

Thank you for your kind words, Forkboy.
