"Art and UFOs? No thanks, only art."

"Next pages focus on the real subject and meaning of a variety of art works which appear into Italian and other ufology web sites. These pages, nevertheless, are not against ufology as a whole. They are just a strong response to those web pages which publish ancient art reproductions without any knowledge of their real subject, meaning and historical value."

2. The meaning of meaning isn't contained in the letters that form the word.
Edited on Sun Nov-13-05 12:04 PM by Beam Me Up
Nor is it contained in the sound of the word as it is spoken. Nor is it contained in the remembered vibration of the word that is retained in the mind.

Where, then, is the meaning of meaning? Signification, significato, significado, where lies the significance of the signifier?

It is not only beauty that is in the eye of the beholder; meaning is in the mind of the perceiver.

Is the mind of the perceiver.

Are there such things as archetypes or not? Another way of asking the question is: Do symbols only mean what those who created them meant them to mean? Is a doorknob always and only a doorknob? Or a battering ram? Take the symbol of the cross, for perfect example. As a symbol, it is far older than Christianity. It represents many thigns, such as the intersection of time by a higher dimension of 'eternity' in that central place we call NOW. Among other possibilities.

And so, in so far as UFO's are concerned, we have to ask what do THEY represent? What is the figure of the eschaton if not that shimmering disc hovering in space--beyond OUR comprehention?
