Sawzall--accept no substitute.

i bought my husband one of these about 3 years ago, no it doesn't get much use but when you need one there is no other tool that will do. I decided i would try and clean my garage and had some pipe that needed to go but it was too tall for the trash barrel so i got out the sawzall and just like that---no more tall pipe. I also used it to chop up the Christmas tree and put it in the lawn cart, i love that tool.

1. That's how I feel about the nail gun.

It is the best tool purchase we ever made. I love that thing. It's good for trim, for molding, putting bookcases back together, all sorts of things.

No sawzall yet, but it's on the list somewhere....

2. I waited till I had most of my house complete.....

before I purchased a nail gun. I don't know what I was thinking. I guess I thought it was too much of a luxury. I trimmed my whole house in oak the old fashioned way...drill, nail and smash thumb.

4. It must be attached to the air tank.

But the only power it draws comes from the compressed air tank. If we had a bigger tank and compressor, I wouldn't need power, but we only have a 5 gallon tank.

5. we have a snap-on tools air compressor, i wonder if a nail gun would

work with it? We're thinking of doing crown moulding througout the entire house and a nail gun or brad nailer would make it a whole lot easier.

6. Probably...

Ours is a bostitch, and it came with the adapter for the compressor. (Of course, DH wants a bigger compressor, but then again, he's not allowed to do anything with power tools anymore.)

7. I'm a contractor

and we have several guns. Some work off and air compressor and some we have called Paslode work off a small gas cylinder with no air compressor needed and thats the way to go. We use them everyday and have not had problems. Paslode makes a bigger framing gun and a smaller gun for trim work. And as for a sawsall I don't know what we would do without them.

14. Yes I do like

the gas cylinders. They run about $10.00 each and will shoot tons of nails. The paslode is a very powerful gun it is very comparable to the Dewalt air gun we use to shoot into microlam.

15. The gas cylinder guns are great

They have a big one for framing nails and a smaller one for trim nails. Both are much more convenient than the air guns because you eliminate the compressor and hoses. Both sizes of the gas cylinder guns perform very well.
If you're nailing down the decking on a floor or a roof, then you'll definately want the air compressor.

12. It should work. Mine has a regulator for out-put pressure.

I believe that might be the only issue to consider if yours does not have a regulator.

I would check with a tool distributor(not a big-store clerk) with any questions before you buy.
