Weird question, but can you switch the side panels on a stove?

Reason I ask, I bought a nice stove a few years ago, but it was discounted because one of the side panels was dented. Now I am going to move the stove when I reno the kitchen and of course that panel is exposed. So can I switch the good panel to the side that is showing and put the dented next to the cabinets? I can't check on mine, because both panels are currently hidden, and it is a gas range, so I can't pull it out to check.

I have an extra 6-8 inches, so I could always put a very narrow cabinet next to the dented side to cover, but it makes more sense to leave it exposed.

does the owner's manual say anything?

I'd check the manuf. website and maybe drop them an email....

5. The manual says nothing.

I went to Lowes today to talk to the kitchen designer, and she says you can't replace or change it.

Make it all door ... no interior shelves and no drawer. Use it to store tall, narrow things like trays and baking sheets.

As to your specific question, AZDD has the right answer. Every stove's different. That said, I suspect it isn't possible.

why not have the same surface on the top as in the rest of the kitchen and shelves on the bottom with baskets as drawers?

This is a very trendy look right now, with linens stored in the baskets (although you could do other things, like bottles of soy sauce and other liquids and bottles of spices). Baskets are available in so many sizes that I'm sure you could get them to fit.

I had a similar situation, only I had about 10 inches to work with. I had a door on the cabinet (30 years ago) facing outward, away from the side of the stove. If I had that situation again, I'd go for the baskets. The little patch of countertop next to the stove was very useful.

6. The thing is, I want to buy the cabinets from Ikea.

Fully half the cost of KraftMaid, even when you take into account shipping. But Ikea does not make a cabinet smaller than 12" and the space is 6-9. I need an upper and a lower. Maybe I can buy the smaller cabinets from KraftMaid and the rest from Ikea? I am using white melamine, so I hope that would be a standard color, even among different makers. It's either that or get a cabinet maker to build something.

All are pleased with the quality.

My observation, there are fewer cabinet options, and much less customer service, help with design, etc. But for all that, I still can't figure out why they are half the price of the Lowes cabinets. Maybe because Ikea manufactures and sells? Anyway, I am going to call today, figure out how to do my order without driving to Atlanta where the closest brick and mortar store is located.

on edit: I did find and open storage 9" cabinet in the Ikea catalog that will fit next to the stove, so I guess I will use that.

9. Great! I think you'll be pleased

because it will give you a much more finished look. If you can't find a narrow upper cabinet, consider going to a local cabinetmaker for a simple shelf unit. Something that small shouldn't kill the budget and it will provide a nice surround for a range hood, if you're lucky enough to have one of those.
