I finally finished a little party dress for my 3 year old granddaughter.

I couldn't get the sleeves set in the darned thing. I have never ripped out seams so many times since I started sewing kids clothes years ago. I've set hundreds of sleeves, but these wouldn't cooperate. The material was slippery. It's made from embroidered organdy over a satin under dress with an attached crinoline. I'm just relieved to have that little dress done. It'll go out in the mail tomorrow to her. I think she'll love it cause she's into frilly frou-frou now and is quite convinced that she is a real princess because on of her middle names is Jasmine. We let her think that. For all the hassle, Mommy better take a picture of her in it for Gramma.

3. Sounds weird, but I've used tissue paper and even newspaper

to sew slick materials together.
Just keep in mind that newsprint will sometimes rub off on certain light-colored material.

I've also hand-sewn sleeves in, but only as a last resort, mostly to keep from balding myself. :D
