I just had to buy a new clothes dryer, is it wrong for me to wish my washing machine dead?

the new dryer works so well and it's spiffy looking, the washing machine is bringing it down.

1. I've had the same set since 1996

and my husband keeps fixing them or getting them fixed! Dang him! :)

There's a decent repair shop just across the highway so it's even convenient to bring them in and save a house call. :(

5. I got my washer/dryer set reconditioned in 1996

so they already had at least 20 years on them, typical 70s models with fake wood trim.

I've wanted to get more energy efficient models but just can't justify the expense, even though the solenoid on the washer is bad and the bearings in the dryer are starting to complain in cold weather.

7. I had my Hotpoint machines for over 20 years

But I longed for full sized stackables. So I finally gave in and couldn't be happier. The front loading washer holds so much and uses less water & soap. Plus, I needed the extra space for a work sink.

From the day all were installed I felt like they'd been there forever. We love having a work sink where the dryer used to be and the w&d do such a better job. They've been going strong now for 8 years.

I say - go for a new washer if it's in the budget.

8. i just found out that if i do buy the matching washer my electric company will give me

a $175 rebate so that would bring the cost of the washer down to around $775.

12. ok i sucked it up and bought the washer today, after the 2 rebates, one from Bosch

and one from Pacific gas and electric my final cost was $800. It was so funny, my husband comes home and sees the dryer, "Nice dryer, wow that washer is really bringing it down".
