Will someone please tell me what I'm looking for?
Edited on Fri Oct-10-08 05:34 PM by hippywife
Husband is building a very small, simple hutch/cabinet for me. The doors on the bottom cabinet will be solid wood but we have been toying with ideas for the top cabinets in the hutch. We settled on an open mesh wire (?) grid rather than glass or wood panels inside the frame. I have searched and googled and still can't locate what I'm looking for so I may not know exactly what to call what I want.

I want it to be black or distressed iron looking, with a small diamond shaped mesh, sort of like a storm door grille but with smaller openings and possibly even round wire maybe the diameter of a toothpick or smaller, but not flimsy like hardware cloth. Does any of that make sense to anyone?

Thanx! :hi:

http://www.constantines.com/index.asp?PageAction=PRODSEARCH&txtSearch=woven+wire+grill&Page=1&btnSearch1.x=4&btnSearch1.y=10

It is called woven wire Grille. If you cannot get link to work, go to www.constantines.com or call them for a catalog. 800-223-8087

There is another source: http://www.constantines.com/index.asp?PageAction=PRODSEARCH&txtSearch=woven+wire+grill&Page=1&btnSearch1.x=4&btnSearch1.y=10

This one used to be a favorite source for us but the web page does not seem to load well so I couldn't search for what you need.

And:

A call here might bring up something. I don't see a web site but I have done business with them for years. They have a catalog but I think you have to pay for it.

The Constantine's offering seems a good deal and they are great to deal with.

Good Luck

4. That's a really nice site!
Thanx! We've decided to go hunt some down at our favorite local salvage yard. It only makes sense since the hutch is made with all salvaged wood and it would be silly to pay the prices for this stuff brand new in that case.

I really appreciate you helping me find the term for the item I was looking for. I thought I was going crazy. LOL

:hi:

5. Now that is my kind of shopping. You might just find a nice
aged grate that would work well on your hutch. Happy hunting. We used to have a great salvage yard near us. The original recyclers. Went out of business years ago before recycling became so fashionable. I wish they were still here.

6. We absolutely love
the salvage yard. Nearly 50% of our home is built from reclaimed materials and a big chunk of that came from there.

They are so much fun to hunt around.
