I just gained access to DU groups, so here I am!
Edited on Thu Jul-21-05 12:13 AM by Heaven and Earth
I have been a Democrat since my onset of political consciousness, but in the past three years, I have moved from lifelong atheist to Buddhist to Christian.

My faith is becoming an increasingly important part of my life and my politics, and its great that this is a place where people can gather to talk about that very thing *checks the address to see if he is in the right place*

Anyway, I have a growing interest in theology and comparative religion, even though my ignorance is still profound on both topics. You may have seen my questions about Original Sin and (separately) about New Thought. My thought is still evolving, and mysticism and Classic Christianity both seem to have worthy claims. Both satisfy my intellect (somewhat to my surprise, in the case of Classic Christianity.) Also, I am always up for learning more about what others believe, and why.

In either case, though, I remain a loyal supporter of the separation of church and state, gay rights, and the wisdom of keeping abortion legal, safe, and making it as rare as can be done. Basically, most of the liberal/progressive message. The Christians who support George W. Bush are gravely mistaken, in my opinion.

Anyway, I am looking forward to discussing these and other topics in faith and politics with anyone interested.

2. Welcome "Heaven & Earth!"
:hi:

Enjoyed reading your post. I too am a loyal supporter of "separation of church and state," "gay rights," and share your wisdom keeping abortion legal and safe. As well, I too firmly believe Christians that support George W. Bush & his staunch neo-Conservatives are past gravely mistaken, sadly so.

You should feel good choosing the correct side. Here's a site that might help ease your evolving thoughts, which I might add are in my opinion perfectly normal. If we stop thinking profoundly, that's when we become narrow-minded, and ignorant to others.

Try Liberal Like Christ: It's a beautiful work of art. I do not know whom the person is that spent so much time creating the web site, but it saved me this past Christmas. G. W. Bush was of my faith, and challenged mine. Now, I breathe easier since I too looked more profoundly.

Your link and Enjoy!
