I am having cataract surgery Monday.
It is for the left eye. Then in two weeks, I will have the right eye done.

This is scary, but I can't see that well any more, and I can't drive at night at all.

I'll keep you posted.

2. Wishing you good fortune
My experience was that the new lense helped so much ... then (and I am not suggesting that this will be your experience)

about 3 months out I had a large number of floaters in my left eye. I ended up having a LOT of laser surgery on account of 5 tears in the retina. Then about 2 weeks later that retina detached. Had emergency surgery that day.

As I was recovrering from that, it detached again at another spot.

I am not trying to scare you. Just want to advise you to be very aware of any changes to your eyes. If you have any concerns at any point, BE SURE to see your opthalmologist immediately.

Let us know how you are doin

Best wishes

6. My left eye is doing well.
I have 20/20 vision in it. There is some residual astigmatism that the doc may correct by doing another incision in the office. The healing is ahead of schedule. I am amazed by how well I can see!

I am a little freaked out that I cannot focus on anything up close. I can't see to floss my teeth or to put on jewelry. The doc says he will leave my right eye a little nearsighted so that I can see things that are very close. I can't imagine needing to wear readers to put on a necklace or floss my teeth. I will need reading glasses for some things. I may need one pair for the close vision, and another pair for things like using the computer.

I know things can go wrong. Nothing is guaranteed. But so far, everything is all right. I will see how things turn out, and I will be back to let you know!

I am so glad for you!
(and the vision thing, you'll adapt just fine. Give it time.)

9. My brother-in-law had coke bottle lenses all his life and a year ago had
cataract surgery on both eyes. Now, he doesn't wear glasses at all. The doctor told him, before the surgery, that he wouldn't need glasses after the procedure. He didn't believe him.

10. It does take some getting used to.
I still reach for my glasses all the time. I don't need them any more!

I do have reading glasses, but they are not very strong.

I hope your brother-in-law continues to enjoy his freedom from glasses.
