This is My Song - Indigo Girls
Came across this the other day, on the Christian left's facebook page. Thought it was a wonderful counterpoint to "God Bless America" that our congregation did for the 4th. Our pastor of 8 years recently took another assignment, and the interim hadn't arrived yet so our W&M team finally got to have their way for the 4th of July. Both the last 2 pastors would plead the case as to why it didn't belong in a worship service every patriotic holiday for the last 15 years....they finally worked it in along with all the flag waving graphics in the powerpoint, including the background to The Lord's Prayer.... :eyes:

1. It looks to be the Finnish America the Beautiful.
in that it is as the link said vying for their national anthem..I asked a similar question in GDP actually a poll about American the Beautiful vs The Star Spangled Banner.. surprisingly most people still want the Star Spangled Banner.

4. It must be a love of tradition...it certainly isn't because the SSB has a catchy tune and is easy to
sing...or dance to for that matter. :P

2. A beautiful hymn and text,
which for some years has been in most protestant hymnals and is regularly used in services across the country.
Thanks.

Would you post this bit R/T? If you don't want to, let me know and I will be happy to do it..

3. Have at it. I'm not on DU enough to carry on a discussion these days, nor
nor do I have the energy generally required for the R/T forum. Hope to return someday soon, depends on how the WI recalls go. Facebook, protests and phonebanking have been occupying most of my free time.
