Mike Patton and the Metropole Orchestra 2008
Edited on Wed Aug-05-09 02:23 AM by AllenVanAllen

This guy is an amazing musician. Here he is preforming classic Italian songs with the afore mentioned orchestra.

There are several parts to this wonderful performance that can be found here:

This guy is musically fearless. He's been compared to a modern day Frank Zappa. You decide.

1. I think he's way more versatile than Zappa ever could have been.
I don't say that to knock Zappa at all, but I truly feel there is nothing that Patton can't do. He acts, he writes film scores, he has his hands in about 20 different musical pies at any given moment, and all completely different from one another. He's the real deal, and music fans are lucky to have him around.

2. I'm a huge Mike Patton fan.
Thanks for sharing. I was delighted to find out he teamed up with another one of my favorites, Jennifer Charles in 'Lovage'. The guy is incredible!

4. This is why I love DU.
I do not know a single person in my 3D life who knows who Elysian Fields are. 'Duel with Cudgels' is a gorgeous piece of music. And of course any fan is waiting for 4:24. Thank you for sharing.

'Jack in the Box' is disturbing only because I think it is based on the story of that girl who was kidnapped in the '70's and kept in a wooden box under some sick couple's bed for 8 years.

I have the early Elysian Fields on my iPod, but it looks like I'll have to do some updating. My dream for years has been to hear them in a smoky club somewhere in NYC around 1am (fucking cigarette bans have ruined part of my fantasy).

5. I don't know anyone who knows them either.
The first time I heard of them was when I picked up Bleed Your Cedar at a Half Price Books back in the 90's. I thought the cover was interesting. Go figure. :P I've followed them ever since. I didn't know what Jack in the Box was about. That's pretty freakin' creepy. "Fright Night" has always reminded me of a horror movie turned into music.
I'd love to catch them live sometime, smoky club or not. ;)
Here are three of my recent favorites from the album Burn Raps & Love Taps.

I've got to throw in one Patton tune for the sake of the OP!
