1. I love their new album.
And yes, I love The Strokes. I just started appreciating them, though I've had a couple of their songs from 'Room on Fire' on my iPod for some time now. People think they're overrated, but I credit their music for helping get me off of antidepressants, believe it or not.

2. I keep thinking I don't like them
then I hear some stuff that I like and I have to reassess WHY I think I don't like them.

4. I never thought much about them...

But way back in 2002 I helped my daughter win some free tickets. She took a friend, I drove her and got boxed in the parking lot, so I was waiting outside until a security guard took pity upon me and let me in for free (we were so poor back then). I was really blown away at how good they were live, and they put on a great show. I'm more into the heavy, classic rock like Led Zeppelin and had considered them boring prep school boys who happened to get a record deal because of who they were - and their music seemed kind of 'blah'. I don't think that anymore. I came across Julian Casablancas' solo album a few months ago and listened to that, and then The Strokes during one of the darkest periods of my life. I was experiencing massive depression and on top of that had put my life on hold to be at hospice with my mom (who is still hanging in there, thank dog). Their music has a very positive energy and I truly do credit it with helping pull me out of a really terrible funk. Now I adore the band and have discovered 'Little Joy' - if you haven't listened to Fab's side project, you must!

3. I'm not a personal fan, but I always like when bands stream their new stuff in it's entirety.
They know people can easily rip the music and burn it, but they do it anyways. And I hate when it's just short samples. Some of the bands I get into play 20 minutes songs, so what good does a 30 second sample do me? So good on the Strokes. :)
