I have purple finches at my backyard feeders, and the hummingbirds have taken off for the winter.

1. I just printed out a list of birds to look for here in the Pgh area

and hope to get up to the local lake to maybe see some birds and some fall foliage...

I should have came here first. I posted in the lounge about purple finches and juncos.

I watch my feeders a lot. I can see them from computer. Today these birds came and I've never seen them before.

So they are probably just passing through?

3. There's good signs for a southward invasion of northern finches this year

so keep your feeders full of finch food!
