Need some help here. I've been feeding the neighborhood birds
all winter and spring. I've got suet feeders, nut feeders (they really like walnuts) and the ubiquitous sunflower seed feeders.

The Starlings just moved in. Ate two suet flats in four hours and are going through a pound of shelled walnuts every other day. Not too interested in the sunflower seeds yet but I think they'll just switch over when the nuts are gone.

Other than pulling the feeders down until they move on is there any advice out there? I hate to stop feeding entirely because the birds are such a joy to have around and I can't afford the eating habits of a flock of Starlings.

1. You might try something like this:
http://www.duncraft.com/Duncraft-Squirrel-Resistant-Feeding-Station-Save-2000-P825C35.aspx

It's designed against squirrels but I've heard that they do a decent job of keeping out starlings as well. Might want to contact the company and ask them about that, though.

Good luck!
