If you're running on Sunday then FRIDAY NIGHT eat a pasta meal. It allows your body to retain liquids and keep you hydratedd during the run....
we used to host Pasta dinners for the Cross Country and Track Teams before conference and regional competitions....worked pretty well, we went to State all four years of our son's high school career.
5. I did a practice run this morning and I was able to do it
I ran the whole way. Did 3.4 miles this morning. It was tough, but not too bad. Now I have the confidence I need. I wanted to make sure I could do it. Wish I would have remembered to time myself.
The ARMY was running (just a 1.8 mile section) at the same time I was. I'm not sure if it was ROTC or some pre-Basic Training group but I was faster than some of them, so that helped with my confidence too.
I'm ready! Thanks for the support. I'll let y'all know how it goes Sunday.
I had said last week that I would be happy with any time less than 35 minutes. My final time was just over 34. My brother ran with me. We took it pretty easy in the beginning. Probably did a little too much talking.
People were coming out of bars in the French Quarter to encourage us and it was pretty obvious that many of them were still partying from the night before. We got passed by a couple of race walkers which was a bit of a surprise.
Unfortunately in the last 4 blocks, I got a pretty painful "stitch" in my side. I tried to stop but my bro encouraged me to finish it off. I had hoped to sprint the last few blocks but I was just not able to do that with the pain in my side.
Overall, I'm pleased with my performance and I had a lot of fun. Maybe next time I can shave a couple of minutes off that time.
