Started doing tumbling training
Edited on Thu May-31-07 09:13 PM by Lurking_Argyle
loved doing it in my younger days. Even took a beginning gymnastics class in college PE--many years ago. Took myself to flop around in the park for 20 minutes trying to see how much I remembered, and how out of practice I am. Not pretty seeing a 40-something guy rolling like a maniac on the grass. :P The following I used to be able to do...

Shoulder rolls--not bad, just some steady practice
Cartwheels--not bad, needs more practice
Back rolls and back uprise--needs work
Headspring--needs lots of work
Handsprings--needs LOTS of work

Just takes practice, practice, practice, but I'm tired!

P.S. That was a long 20 mins. I had crappy dates that were shorter.

1. I could never do handsprings
I could do a cartwheel on the balance beam though. By back uprise do you mean pushing up into a back bend or a back roll pushing up into a handstand? What are shoulder rolls? I did some gymnastics in early elementary school but I don't know what a lot of the names of skills are. I still love to watch it though.

Before my back started hurting I could stand on one leg and pull my other foot higher than my head, almost into a split (splits and hyperextended splits on the ground are not a problem for me at almost 33). I'm getting my back checked out so I hope to get some PT and then be able to do that again, I loved the feeling.
