Monday exercise thread
Hi y'all. Keep it up! :hi:

I did a 20-mile "Tour de Houston" ride on Saturday, which was honestly a lot harder than I expected. Was probably the last 20-miler to finish and felt very depleted. HOWEVER, I did finish, and that was the goal.

Last night I jogged and walked a 3-mile trail, pretty easy pace. Am nervous about the tri; less than 2 weeks to go. I may end up walking part of the "run" segment. We'll see.

4. Switched my routine to chest only today
Edited on Mon Mar-21-05 07:39 PM by 4_Legs_Good
Ouch.

5 sets of bench presses (bar)
4 sets of chest flys (machine)
5 sets of incline bench press (bar)
3 sets of decline chest flys (machine)
2 pathetic attempts at a set of dips

felt good, if a little short of the mark. All pathetically small weights and quite a few to-failures (with no spotter, while I know it's good for you it's still kinda embarassing).

Edit: took about 50 minutes

5. I'm doing 10,000 steps a day, monitored by a pedometer.
It's amazing how much easier this is to accomplish than scheduling a workout. For example, yesterday I was 2,000 steps short at bedtime. I hopped on the elliptical and 20 minutes later, I was caught up. I can't think of any other time that I was so motivated to exercise at 10:30 at night! I'm also always looking for ways to add steps during the day when I used to sit. And when I bike or do other kinds of exercise, I'm doing it in addition to the 10,000 steps.

If I can keep this up, I HAVE to see results soon! :D

6. cool idea, Longhorn!

let us know your results.

On Edit: my workout today was Muay Thai kickboxing. It's not really helpful training for my upcoming tri, but I'd miss it if I didn't go. Plus if I quit for a month or two and go back, I'll be really SORE! Not as sore as 4-Legs' chest tomorrow, I'll warrant, however...

10. hey! you hijacked my thread!
OK - I never clarified WHICH Monday, so it's fair game. ;) Was just surprised to see myself at the "top of the page".

This evening I enjoyed a nice hour-long bike ride, not too fast not too slow (for me). The (mini-) triathlon is Saturday!

9. It's my off night
Shopping was enough to completely exhaust me tonight. I might be able to do some 12 ounce curls later on, but I think I'll just sit in my easy chair with a book and some leftover pasta for now. :D

13. Yep.
We take two days off in a week for rest, and Monday's usually one of them. Our gym is packed on Mondays, for some reason.

12. I jogged, for the first time in my life
I did 1.3 miles on the track, and actually jogged .95 of that distance (walked the rest).

Then I spent 15 minutes in the weight room working on triceps, laterals, and pectorals.

14. That's great!
That's a good way to really get your heart rate up. I hate it myself, but I do it anyway because it's such a good cardio workout.

15. Ran 2 miles around the bayou with my dog
This was my 3rd run in a week. I just started back an exercise routine after being sick off and on for about a month. This was the first run that i didn't have to walk any. It felt nice.

Today (Tuesday) will be my recovery day, then tomorrow morning (hopefully) I'll get out of bed early and run 2 miles before work.

After only 3 runs, I can already see minor changes in my body. My ab muscles are beginning to show themselves again so hopefully after that, my butt and thighs will slim up.
