2. Woohoo!
this is fun!

Let's do introductions. As far as the Democrat bit, I'm an acting precinct chair, waiting to get appointed, cause the old one moved out and I have been told they can appoint me since the next election isn't til 2006. Anyway I'll do the work no matter what happens. I worked my precinct this year and learned a TON and it was most fun. And I live in Texas, and I'm not really thrilled with our local party officials, but the local activists, old AND new, are GREAT!

4. I'm a delegate to the CA convention & secretary for our AD committee.
Last night I went to my first County Democratic Central Committee meeting. I was thrilled to see that the County Chair is a strong pro-choice progressive who will fight tooth and nail against the effort by some to move the party to the right.

5. Because of Dean
I worked two elections (2003, 2004). First as someone who handed out sample ballots, the second knocking on doors. Would have worked the Primary but was called back to work and couldn't get the day off. Looking forward to local elections.

I have a friend who has several precincts, and want to help in her work and mulling over the process.

Just think, before Dean all I did was vote (and I did an Al Gore site briefly during his run). I couldn't have told you anything about party structure at all, or have known anything about how votes are actually gotten. Damn you Dean...you turned a political dabbler into a political junkie.....And will soon actually be pushing Democrats...oh my....
