THEIR '08 ticket: Personal choice vs. prediction
Edited on Thu Jun-09-05 08:40 PM by ih8thegop
In response to this thread, whom do you want the Republican party to nominate in 2008? And, whom do you think will win it?

I kind of want Jeb to be on the ticket. People are getting sick of the Bush name, IMO - except for Repubs.

I was thinking Frist would be on the ticket, but with the compromise, I doubt he will head the ticket. OTOH, I'd watch out for someone like Jeb, Mark Sanford, or Sonny Perdue - all Southern Governors (who have seen much success in recent Presidential elections).

If Man-On-Dog wins re-election to the Senate next year, I think he will be on the ticket for VP, especially if Jeb tops the ticket, as both ae Catholics and I think they are very hungry for the Catholic vote. If not, it will be Brownback.

1. If another Bush gets elected that will do it I will seriously look to move

That will just be it for I will truly believe that this country is totally in the hands of anti-life redneck terrorists.

They'll probably have someone like Guiliani in the primaries but after Bush or whoever the heavy weight fundie is running for the ticket points out he's a witchcraft practicing Catholic who asks the Virgin Mary to grant him more powers from Satan then all the rest of the repukes will fall into line and vote him out early.

2. Some Fire-Breathing Fundie
Why should they compromise? They have it all. They own the news,
the churches, and the voting machines. How can they possibly lose?
They have no need to even pretend to run to the middle anymore.

All things are possible

3. Al Gore
Name recognition, doesn't seem too far-out of the mainstream, seems to have that family-man image, good-looking, tall...and if i know that much about him so does everyone else. I think he could carry some of the cross-over votes from moderate republicans and some from the Greens. I have an unaccountable feeling of loyalty and devotion to him. Maybe it is charisma. So far nobody else does it for me. Maybe it's just because I loved Bill so much, he has some nostalgia attached to him.

5. Mark Sanford or Bill Frist, with George Allen as VP
However, they may also want to tie themselves to Bush's boat as much as possible, so they'd nominate someone from his cabinet. They'd risk the almost-racist almost-mysoginistic white base of theirs if they nominated Rice, and Ashcroft has too much baggage. Rumsfeld's record is similar to Cheney's, but he's not from either the South or West (he's from- GASP!- Illinois!) and he'll be 76.

10. Alan Keyes/Alan Keyes
47 states will be in the bag. Idaho, Wyoming, and Utah will be competative.

11. Man, I hope we see that whack job run again
it was fun watching him run in 2000, and it was funner getting the "I would actually really like to vote for him" feeling from all of the radical republicans.
