DAVENETICS: Could the Libby Rove Scandal Hurt the Dems?
It might not be on purpose, but so far, the Dems are playing the Plame scandal just right: Don’t pile on, just let the damage to Rove and Libby happen on its own.

But here’s a scary thought: The whole scandal may end up hurting the Dems and the so-called intellectual elite.

Why?

1. And what if...
Rove, Libby and Cheney turn out to be Cthulhu, Yog-Sothoth and N'yarlhotep and they rip off their disguises on national TV and eat our brains?

2. Damage to the Times
The Times isn't much of a friend to the Left. If they lose credibility, it's no big deal. But even if it were a big deal, the Left will find a way to carry on, with or without the Times.

4. They may not be a friend to the left, but they are percieved thus
esp by the Right, and by others I'm sure.

They don't make much distinction. Left is left to them.

6. Only if you believe/accept the NYT as a icon of the "left." RWingers
may regard it as such, but they don't believe the NYT is a credible source anyway.

And any discerning lefty who's actually read the NYT for years hardly can believe the paper is a liberal paper.

Any reason why folks who might still believe the corporate media is on their side shouldn't find "their trust in mainstream media has been scarred?" That's a bad thing?

7. Wasn't Miller considered part of the * propoganda machine.
They can't blame the "liberals" for what she said and did - but they will.

8. Is that article intended as satire?
I find it very funny. I'm just hoping that it isn't being so unintenionally.
