Bush and Cheney gave the enemy a strong position with the surge - able to attack our troops and then

sink back into anonymity any time we decide to increase force levels in a given area of Iraq, as their goal of having the US standing in the world steadily deteriorate is accomplished.

Bush and Cheney are helping the enemy.

The enemy understands that the surge into a civil war and more American deaths has caused dissension in the United States and they therefore see Bush/Cheney's ideas as helpful to their cause.

2. True - police work was needed - and instead we got bombs and collateral damage and

a major increase in folks that hate us, and an increase in the portion of that group that want to be terrorists.

Plus we get stuck in a civil war - indeed today's Pentagon report used "civil war" for the first time! :-(
