CLEVELAND -- President Bush plans to spend several hours Tuesday in northeast Ohio to tour the Lincoln Electric Co. in Gates Mills and attend a Congressional Trust Reception.

While he's there, he will present the President's Volunteer Service Award to Linda Campbell, a volunteer with the Junior League and cancer-fighting groups.

She was chairwoman of the first Cleveland-area Race for the Cure in 1994.

The northeast Ohio affiliate of the cancer-fighting Susan G. Komen for the Cure foundation has raised more than $12 million to provide funding, support and education regarding breast cancer.

3. Corruption probe focusing on construction trade
About 200 federal agents searching government offices, businesses and homes in Cuyahoga county have hit at least 10 locations today.

Officials said the searches were part of a long-term public corruption investigation but refused to elaborate. The list of places search indicates that the probe may involve irregularities in construction contracts.

The places searched include: The home of Commissioner Jimmy Dimora, the home of Auditor Frank Russo, the home of county Information Technology Administrator Kevin Kelley, the county administration building, the county Data Center, the county Engineer's Office, DAS Construction in Garfield Heights, Blaze Construction in Middleburg Heights, Doan Pyramid Electric in Bedford Heights and Vincore LLC in Cleveland.

5. 2nd part of article is interesting...
I live in Gates Mills & contrary to several reports Lincoln Electric is not here-it's in Euclid. However, the Congressional Trust Reception IS in Gates Mills at the private home of an insurance exec to the tune of $10,000 per plate! Here's more & link...

"Then he will head out to the Gates Mills home of Umberto Fedeli, a commercial insurance broker who is well-known in Republican fundraising circles.

The price for this afternoon's Congressional Trust 2008 fundraiser to bolster GOP efforts in Congress? $10,000 for general schmoozing and $25,000 for up-close schmoozing. "

I'm sickened & think I must get out my protest signs & give him a warm welcome!
