Have the recent IRA events soured you on Sein Fein?
Before the Assembly election, I had talled a list of the parties I liked, disliked, and weren't sure about, and Sein Fein was a poarty i wasn't sure about. I admit that party leadership had nothing to do with the McCartney killings or the bank heist, but SF's IRA ties have a lot to be explained.

1. Nope

First, Sinn Fein does not control the IRA and cannot be fairly blamed for anything the Army does. Second, there has been no actual evidence produced to link the IRA to the heist nor to the bar-room killing of Mr McCartney. There is even some question of the police turning away at least one person who offered to provide evidence in the killing. Lots of accusations, no proof nor even evidence put forth.

Old question--who benefits from the current climate of accusations and brouhaha? Not the republicans nor the supporters of the Good Friday agreement. Look to those who support the status quo.

edited to add: I was rather concerned at first, until I started to look for the prodution of evidence. Haven't seen a scrap yet.

2. No. Sinn Fein is still the party for me.
Like Maeve says, not one scrap of evidence linking Sinn Fein to the bank heist or the killing of Mr. McCartney. Sinn Fein does not control the 'Ra. To be honest with you, I don't believe most of the shit that is spewed about the IRA anyways. Bertie Ahern, David Trimble, Hugh Ord, Ian Paisley, Tony Blair all have motives for trying to crippling Sinn Fein and the Republican Movement and the GFA. Anything out of those buffoons mouths is so much bullshit.

Up Sinn Fein!

Brits Out!

3. I am a supporter of Sinn Fein
and the IRA. There wouldn't be a peace process in the first place if the IRA didn't do take the first steps. The IRA has long defended nationalist communities from violence and have done a great job fighting for Irish freedom.

there is a lot of explaining to be done and the SDLP better start soon especially about the McCartney case.

As for the bank robbery, that's anyone's guess, but why would the IRA rent a van in Wales to be used in a robbery in Northern Ireland? Also, why, when someone called the PSNI in Belfast on the night of the robbery about a suspicious looking van at the Northern Bank, did the PSNI send two officers on foot to investigate?

Something is definitely rotten here...

6. Yes
I don't think the bank robbery was the 'RA but I think the Columbia guys was a collosal fuck up and the McCartney murder was some volunteers going nuts. Volunteers aren't supposed to do that. Politically, these have just been very, very stupid things. I still support Sinn Fein and the IRA but some cleaning needs to be done.
