2. Re the Arts Center
Hi, sorry to be so late in responding, but we've been on vacation out of town since Apr 24, just got home and am trying to catch up on emails and DU.

I've been a member of CAC on and off for several years. They have a small place they rent in I think it's on Laurel Canyon Blvd somewhere around Encino? (Not sure of the city just now, driving fatigue has set in.) The Center is used for various lessons, a weekly ceili, holiday parties, plays, etc. The people I've met have been very nice, helpful and committed.

The only times I've actually used the facilities, was when taking a series of Irish Gaelic classes they put on, given by Sean Ahern. It was a one night a week/10 week class. It was kind of difficult for me, as I felt it was like an immersion class. I'd expected more of a regular "lets learn grammer" "Lets learn sentence structure" etc as in high school or college. However, saying that, I do feel like I learned alot and it gave me a good jump start on carrying on, on my own. I suspect I'd have taken more classes but I live in Long Beach. I went to the classes after work, which was not too far from the Center, but they ended around 10pm, so I got home pretty late on a work night. Fatigue overcame my dedication to in-person instruction, lol.

Anyway, I continue to renew, usually tardily, as I feel that even tho' I don't use their services often, it's important to support anyone that is promoting Gaelic culture. The Center usually has a table/booth up at local faires, gatherings and try to get people interested in language, history, dance, etc. Since the membership is pretty cheap, $10 a year I think, it's well worth it.

If you have any other questions, I'd be happy to try to answer. I assume you have their web address, but if not........

My best,
Lynda
