edited to add: I have been in Texas for 26 years, since I was 10 years old. My parents were both from upstate New York, and my dad was retired Coast Guard, so I moved around a lot when I was young. NEVER in the midwest, however!LOL

The General I get, and Yankee...I live in St. Louis now, and it's the furthest south I've ever lived (which makes the Dixie a bit odd)

My parents are from Minnesota and I lived in northwestern Illinois for a long time, which probably account for the Upper Midwestern.

Odd that I've got more Dixie than Midwestern, though.

Born and raised in mid-suburban New Jersey by parents both
from the same small town in Kansas.
Lived in Washington, DC from age 18-26.
Lived in NYC (Brooklyn 1 year; Queens 4ish years) for almost 5
years.

..and there were some questions where they didn't even include the word I use for things or the pronunciation I use and they didn't have a result that said 100% Proper English which is what I speak ;)

I was born and raised an Appalachian English speaker (sadly, it's a dying dialect). I've lived in 10 of the Lower Forty-Eight and have spent an extended amount of time in thirty-eight of them. Six years ago, after a 25-year hike, I returned to NC and "mountainese" returned easily to my tongue. My profile says:

Yankee????? How'n'hale 'at happen? It was that 4-1/2 years in Chicago and the 2-1/2 in New Jersey that just rurned me. Jes rurnt, I tell ya! :rofl:

Surely there are western accents.. I can tell the diffrence between a person from Northern California and Southern California. But, maybe thats just me.

26. I can, too, but I've found Western accents
to be mostly General English. Here in New Mexico, few picked up on my very faint Bostonian and people now say I sound like I was born here, although they still draw a blank when I'm tired and thirsty and ask for a glass of tonic or where the bubbler (bubblah) is.

Needless to say, I'm still a speaker of fluent Yankee with dashes of both upper midwest and southern, regions I lived in when I was a kid.

31. My problem with that quiz is that
most of the word pairings I use equally. And the question about an easy course is one I have no personal vocabulary for, although I've heard of two of the three terms offered.

I think I moved around just enough at a crucial age, and have lived as an adult in different parts of the country that I'm something of a chameleon at least in vocabulary. I think my accent is mostly general american, although once in a great while on certain words people can correctly guess that I'm originally from New York State. But that actually hasn't happened in about ten years, so maybe I've totally lost those accent markers.
