Does Adobe Systems Inc understand the Korean language?

Is hangul based upon or similar in structure to an ideographic script?

Perhaps you say, "yes, it's based upon an ideographic script if you trace things back far enough." However, it could be argued that the English alphabet is based on an ideographic script. For example, the letter "A" is an upside-down head of a creature that has horns.

1. Hangul is a phonetic script, while kana is a syllabic script

Hanja is the Korean word for Chinese characters. For the most part, Korea has phased out the use of hanja, but they're still seen in older or more formal writing.

Even though hangul is phonetic, the consonants and vowels are arranged in blocks so that each syllable looks sort of like a hanja.
