1. the difference is the truck is a diesel putting out only about
300 HP, although the torque ratings are similar...and it probably redlines at 2700 RPM...lol

it's a nice concept, but not very feasable for production. using a quad-turbo 16-cylinder to make 1000 HP seems like overkill....that number can be easily reached with a twin-turbo V-12, or even V-8, if tuned properly.

2. The whole car is overkill...
The car has made production in Europe. It sells for well over a million euros.

The reason they used a W16 engine instead of a V12 is that the W16 actually saved space. The W16 has 4 banks of 4 cylinders with one turbo for each, so the engine is shorter than one that is 6 cylinders long. Plus the 16 cylinder engine produces more torque...the Veyron's top speed is electronically limited at 250 MPH, and to keep it moving at that speed, you need the torque of a semi. Having 4 turbos instead of two also helps reduce turbo lag since each turbo is smaller and can spool up quicker. The whole engine is just 8 liters, and the car weighs in at around 3,400 lbs.

Michelin had to make custom tires to handle the power. The rear tires are 14" wide. If you are racing it around, the car consumes over a gallon of gas per minute.

So in other words, it is overkill and then some. If you have billions of dollars, it would be a must in my garage. It is the fastest production car, hands down, with 0-60 in 2.9 seconds, and 0-180 in 14 seconds. Is it absolutely nuts? Of course. But people will pay for the best just to say they have the best.

3. it will definitely be a collectors item
look for it on barrett-jackson in about 20 years...

sadly, anyone that buys it will let it sit in a garage forever (which is probably a good thing, since only someone with a true death wish would drive one on public streets)

4. Actually, I just read that the Bugatti hasn't been delivered yet
They are still working out some problems with aerodynamics and the tires. Customers are still waiting for the final product to be delivered, so perhaps it may remain as a concept.
