I type a one sentence response, and the group has already moved on to something else.

10. Here's a thread including a link to the Kucinich decision
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x2692174

Looks like it's more a matter of lack of jurisdiction than anything else. If Kooch wants to take it to the FCC or whatever, he can.

I bet he will.

Anyway, you guys should see GD and GD-P. Almost NO debate discussion. Most people are tuning out or trying to get it on C-SPAN. They hate MSNBC, and have said "Fuck Keith," too.

He's already been accused of "repeating the FUCKING LIE" that Hillary was the only candidate on the Michigan Dem ballot. I posted that I recorded what he said and he said "the only MAJOR candidate." If they don't like the truth, too bad.

21. cut and pasted here...
TO: letters@msnbc.com

Regarding Countdown with Keith Olberman,

I'm a fan, so this is not an ordinary "disgruntled viewer" e-mail. Keith Olberman said something in tonight's broadcast, which was that Hillary Clinton was the only Democrat on the Michigan ballot. This is not true. Dennis Kucinich was also on the Michigan ballot.

At this moment, after this broadcast, I am not at all sure whether I'll ever again turn on Countdown. This is a very big decision for me, as there are NO OTHER broadcasts that historically deliver the news as Americans should receive it. However, after a court decision tonight decided on behalf of NBC, whereupon their counter suit against Dennis Kucinich's and the resulting inability to participate in the Democratic Debate occurred. I protest.

You will likely have one less viewer tomorrow. I wouldn't take it too lightly, in view of the numbers of bloggers who have similar feelings being discussed as I send this.

So long, Keith! I WILL miss you.

29. Dear MrMickeysMom,
Regarding Countdown with Keith Olberman,

I'm a fan, too. Keith Olberman did NOT say Hillary Clinton was the only Democrat on the Michigan ballot. He said she was the only MAJOR candidate on the ballot. Given that only Barack Obama and John Edwards have received even close to the percentage of the votes she received in the Iowa caucuses and the New Hampshire primary (with Obama doing better in Iowa), this is true.

I would highly recommend your listening carefully to your TV from now on, instead of turning off Countdown.

Keith didn't make the Nevada court decision. Nor did he pursue the matter in court for NBC.

Let he who has never worked for an employer who ever did anything he or she didn't like cast the first stone.

I hope we don't lose you, MrMickeysMom.

Hugs,

BerryBush

33. And for the record
I revisited the thread in which a poster accuses Keith of "repeating the FUCKING LIE" that Hillary was the only candidate on the Michigan Dem ballot, and I posted that I recorded what he said and he said "the only MAJOR candidate."

Both our posts are already gone from the thread as if they never existed.

44. You're welcome.
Yes, this is what it's all about.

You have every right to be pissed at NBC. I doubt it will change their mind, but you have a right to be pissed at them. We all have a right to be pissed when someone, be it a person or a corporation, changes the rules on someone else in an unfair way. I think it stinks too, even though I have no personal love for Mr. Kucinich. They should not have changed the rules on him; that was dirty pool. However, he's going to have to seek recourse some other way, it appears.

How do they plan to create or bring better jobs back into this country?
How do they plan to fix the broken Health Care system we have?

I tried the digging out route, and the creditors were just extremely nasty. "We want X number of dollars!" "I don't have X number of dollars to pay you right now, but I can pay Y number of dollars." "I see. Well, if you CHOOSE not to cooperate with us, we have no choice but to file suit against you."

Oh, it's a joy being less than extremely wealthy. :eyes:

I have a home phone that I no longer use because I can't stand the nasty phone calls from creditors. Now I get letters from people saying they are Lawyers and they plan to come after me.

My response to them is "You can't get blood out of a turnip!" I have nothing. I am trying to build back my life, but as it stands now, I live paycheck to paycheck and if I could pay these people off I would do so in a heartbeat.

It is very depressing.

28. I need to file myself
but I can't afford the freaking $1500 just to file.

I've had perfect credit all my life and all it took was losing my job, and then having some health care issues. What took me a lifetime to build was gone in the blink of an eye. I may talk to another Lawyer again soon.

Sigh! I live paycheck to paycheck now and there are some days, I'm just depressed as hell especially as I'm older now and may never find a better job because of my age.

34. Grey, I'm so sorry.
This is happening to so many people, and yet the Bush administration is still pushing for permanent tax cuts for the wealthy.

Mine cost $900, plus there is a $299 filing fee with the courts. Took awhile to pay all that off, but given the level of debt I have, it was a relatively small amount (though big to me).

Both you and SG are the real casualties... I'm really sorry to hear this. I'm not making great money like I was a year ago (that was a personal choice, as I was going insane within a corporate structure, and now I'm just a "plain ole respiratory therapist"... You actually echo what my husband has been experiencing. We are boomers but we are viable workers with excellent work ethics.

40. The older members of the KOEB know my story
I was very close to being kicked out of my apartment when I found the job I now have. Everyone here was extremely supportive and let me cry on their shoulders when I was going through my darkest times. I have family here that I could have moved in with, but they wanted me to give up my baby, Sheridan. As much as they loved him, they didn't want me to bring him. I was going crazy at the thought of possibly losing him.

Thankfully that never happened, but the last 3 years have been hard.

Edited on Tue Jan-15-08 10:52 PM by Greylyn58
by the members of DU, but the job I got was at Wal-mart. I started with an amount that was so much less than the job I lost in 2003(I was out-sourced), but I will say I have made many friends and earned the respect of most of the store managers. I have moved up monetarily, but am still making less than my 2003 job which makes me crazy because everything else-gas, food, rent, health-care, vet bills-all these things continue to rise. Yet your paycheck can't keep up.

I think I need to stop talking about this...I'm making myself depressed.

Edited on Tue Jan-15-08 10:56 PM by BerryBush
Which is another reason why I said, let he whose employer has never done anything he or she didn't like cast the first stone.

Unless you have never worked or have been self-employed your whole life (and maybe not even then!), chances are you have accepted a paycheck from someone whose actions you did not all agree with. That doesn't make you evil, nor does it make you evil if you don't speak out against every wrong you believe they commit.

Most of us have to make these compromises to some extent. It was Keith's refusal to recognize this, and his lack of skill in picking some of his battles, that cost him so much in previous jobs. He's not about to do it again. Those who would encourage him to do so are not being very pragmatic.
