I first heard one of his albums when I was 12, and my life was never the same after that. I heard a great interview on Fresh Air where he said that he wasn't afraid of dying because everything that exists was, before the Big Bang, the inside of a star.

Someone over in GD, in a post about him, took offense to Carlin's views on religion. I said, when you listen to Carlin, you'd best leave your sensitivities at the door, because George had something to offend everyone! And that was one of the best things about him.

Sadly, Dell is no longer offering XP on its laptops, and will stop offing it on home PC's soon. So this way, I can order a lappy-toppy and load it w/the good stuff. :) The Inspiron is one of the ones I was looking at. Which version do you have?

which I bought from the Dell site a couple of years ago. It was refurbished, so it was tricked out (extra RAM, bigger hard drive, wireless, etc.) and the whole thing cost me just about $1100. But I'm sure you can find them for less now.

Happens everytime. I'm kind of deciding which sessions to go to based on who is on the panels rather than the subject matter. John Dean, Sam Seder and Cenk, Richard Clarke, Paul Krugman, Jeff Feldman and George Lakoff, A Siegel and Marcy Wheeler are some of them. I know 3:00 on Friday had a bunch of conflicts.

Dan was on the radio today saying George was a big fan of his radio shows too, and would frequently contact him with advice and ideas. Dan kept trying to get him to call in, but he wouldn't do it. Said he didn't feel qualified to talk about sports.
