A nice surprise for the ASTB -- Alison is subbing for Keith again.

A day of gloom for the KOEB. :-(

1. Damn! No quiz.
It would have been hard to top "the rant" though!

3. Christ! Here's why, I bet you ANYTHING:
From the Countdown newsletter.

The Terry Schiavo case has reached a critical mass... seven days after
her feeding tube was removed, seemingly all legal avenues at an end,
passions running high on both sides.
And who knows what will transpire today because the situation keeps
producing surprises.
So we plan on spending the entire program on this tonight.

Oh, jeez. I don't think I can take that, even if it IS Countdown.

Is it me, or is the world just getting weirder and weirder and weirder? Somewhere along the way I think we all fell down the freakin rabbit hole.

Ooo, I know when it was, too: Nov. 2, 2004.

4. I wonder if Keith's going to church tonight.
It wouldn't surprise me. Remember the SpongeBob letters? I got the impression that Keith is a person of faith. O8)

5. Rev
I would'nt be surprised if he's Roman Catholic. His grandfather was a NYC firefighter, after all.

11. He's Catholic
Edited on Fri Mar-25-05 03:10 PM by Clark2008
That's why he's taking the day off.

It's not a conspiracy.

:)

Let us pray also for heretics and schismatics: that our Lord and God would be pleased to rescue them from their errors; and recall them to our holy mother the Catholic and Apostolic Christian. Let us pray. Let us kneel. (Arise.) Almighty and eternal God, Who savest all, and wouldest that no one should perish: look on the souls that are led astray by the deceit of the devil: that having set aside all heretical evil, the hearts of those that err may repent and return to the unity of Thy truth. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, Who livest and reignest with God the Father in the unity of the Holy Ghost, through all endless ages. Amen.

Let us pray also for the perfidious Jews: that our God and Lord may remove the veil from their hearts; that they also may acknowledge Our Lord Jesus Christ. Let us pray. Let us kneel. (Arise.) Almighty and Eternal God, Who dost not exclude from Thy mercy even the perfidious Jews: hear our prayers, which we offer for the blindness of that people; that acknowledging the light of Thy Truth, which is Christ, they may be delivered from their darkness. Through the same Lord Jesus Christ, Who livest and reignest with God the Father in the unity of the Holy Ghost, through all endless ages. Amen.

Let us pray also for the pagans: that Almighty God take away iniquity from their hearts: that leaving aside their idols they may be converted to the true and living God, and His only Son, Jesus Christ our God and Lord. Let us pray. Let us kneel. (Arise.) Almighty and Eternal God, Who seekest always, not the death, but the life of sinners: mercifully hear our prayer, and deliver them from the worship of idols: and admit them into Thy holy Church for the praise and glory of Thy Name. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, Who livest and reignest with God the Father in the unity of the Holy Ghost, through all endless ages. Amen.

16. I think Keith is Jewish? Do they do Easter?
Sorry guys, I'm just not into religion, and I really don't care. I did see some of his articles on a Jewish blog, not that there's anything wrong with that....does Olbermann.org have those posted?

Happy Spring Break Everybody, that should cover my sorry non-practicing Catholic Ass <snark>

19. Catch, Jewish World Review is a conservative website...
... I believe they picked up KO's articles through a writers' syndicate, since the subject matter suited their outlook (doubtful that would happen these days!)

I don't think a writer's religion is an issue at JWR -- only the point of view. As proof, I offer this list of their current contributors, many of whose columns are also run in other publications (the most astonishing being Jimmie "J.J." Walker!):

Dan Abrams, Mitch Albom, Anne Applebaum, Issac J. Bailey, Michael Barone, Tony Blankley, Andy Borowitz, Peter A. Brown, Tucker Carlson, Mona Charen, David Chartrand, Linda Chavez, Richard Chesnoff, Andrei Codrescu, Felice Cohen, Ann Coulter, Greg Crosby, Terry Eastland, Larry Elder, Suzanne Fields, John Fund, Frank J. Gaffney, Lloyd Garver, Jonah Goldberg, Michael Goodwin, Julia Gorin, Michael Graham, Paul Greenberg, David Grimes, Victor Davis Hanson, Froma Harrop

Betsy Hart, Nat Hentoff, David Horowitz, Joanne Jacobs, Jeff Jacoby, Marianne Jennings, Dean P. Johnson, Jack Kelly, Ed Koch, Ch. Krauthammer, Michael Ledeen, John Leo, Carl P. Leubsdorf, Michael Lewis, James Lileks, David Limbaugh, Michael Long, Kathryn Lopez, Rich Lowry, Michelle Malkin, Jackie Mason, The Medicine Men, Michael Medved, Dick Morris, MUGGER, Ruben Navarrette, Bill O'Reilly, Rochelle Riley, Cokie & Steve Roberts, Clarence Page, Kathleen Parker, Jim Pinkerton, Daniel Pipes, Leonard Pitts, Jr., Dennis Prager, Wesley Pruden, Tom Purcell

Jonathan Rauch, Glenn H. Reynolds, Robert Robb, Ron Rosenbaum, Pat Sajak, Debra J. Saunders, Joe Scarborough, ScrappleFace, Amity Shlaes, Lenore Skenazy, Tony Snow, Stratfor Intel Brief, Thomas Sowell, Bill Steigerwald, Neil Steinberg, Mark Steyn, John Stossel, Cal Thomas, Jonathan Tobin, Jonathan Turley, Bob Tyrrell, Diana West, Jimmie "J.J." 8. Wonder if he wrote tonight's show, anyway?
It could contain more of his insights, if that's the case.

9. My best guess here is that they gave him the day off tonight
because they think that they may have to call him in sometime over the weekend to do breaking News Coverage on this story if Schiavo dies.

... Yes, that makes good sense, Shop... as when he had to come in on a Sunday not long ago for a special Countdown edition.

12. probably a bit of both, I'm guessing.
Considering what the next week of Schiavo madness is going to be like, a day away from the battle for some reflection or prayer or whatever suits him is probably an excellent idea.

Of course, once he's had his fill of being O8), there's always the next chapter of Gull Bay to be considered and Sparky and Botany are very slow producers. I'm sure we'd welcome a fresh--very fresh--source.

Once this Holy/Hell Week/Easter is done, I plan on being particularly snarky.

Just giving you fair warning.

13. Oh, darn -- and I was planning to be on with you guys tonight
I've been watching on and off the last three days, but hubby was still cleaning up issues with our computer -- I think it's finally working okay now. I was looking forward to tonight. I'll try to stop by anyway, though, and see who's there.

15. We're doooooooooooooomed!
I think, after all this Schiavo mess is done, we need a full-blown meeting of the DUDQ (the DU Drama Queens). I'll pass along the word to ClassWarrior (he's a good instigator of these things).

For a different Cheesy perspective (more introspective), I wrote a post in the Liberal Christians group. I'd appreciate any feedback, if you are so inclined.

17. Rev, did you see the Easter Rant.....?
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=104x3366298

I didn't participate, but the OP struck my own heathen heart remembering those happy childhood bible stories and the message that helped her overcome a rather tragic young life. Someone came down hard on her because they don't want religion discussed with their politics.

Maybe the Liberal C's can help her out? It's already on the Greatest board, and well deserved to be there!

18. Thanks for the link - I had not seen that.
I've been a lounge lizard today. I'm practicing my snark.

I noticed that response. But shortly afterwards, a moderator posted a positive message of support, telling her that her story was most definately appropriate.

And I nominated it, too.
