KOEB 6-25-09 I see dead people edition
Edited on Thu Jun-25-09 06:58 PM by SharonRB
What's going on -- so many dying at once. Gov. Sanford is doing a secret little happy dance.

I must admit too much time is being spent on Michael Jackson, though. There are far more important things going on. Let's move on.

All kinds of rumors going around now, too: Patrick Swayze, Harrison Ford, Jeff Goldblum. I haven't been able to confirm any of them -- all rumors/hoaxes.

3. Enough with the wall to wall coverage
Seriously. Did everything else going on just disappear?

2. Hi Sha-Sha.
:hi: Don't expect people to move on for a long time. Sorry. This is going to be like Elvis again.

I'm just stunned. First Farrah, which was sad but which we knew was coming eventually, and now this, totally out of the blue.

I wonder whether the Kossack who earlier today expressed a desire for Keith to do a "Sanford Puppet Theater" has withdrawn the request.

Do you know how long Keith has been on the air? He looks good in the vest and shirt.

5. He came on sometime between 6:30 and 6:50
We had ABC news on downstairs and then I came up and put on MSNBC and he was there. Shuster had been on before.

15. Thanks. I didn't have my TV on. I was just tired and needed to rest and read a bit.
Funny, I knew before leaving work that he'd had a heart attack, but I didn't race to my TV when I got home. It all just slipped my mind.

6. Stephanie said something this morning about getting bumped
I don't know if it was for Ed's show, which she was supposed to do today, or something else, but she had a feeling she'd get bumped. I'm sure she never thought it would be for a dead Michael Jackson.

8. At work this afternoon we were speculating on who might be #3
And then hubby and I were doing the same when I got home. Not 10 minutes later we heard MJ had been rushed to the hospital and then that he was dead. Never would have guessed it.

17. I don't believe it happens in threes. People just make patterns out of randomness in life
to make themselves feel better.

But even so, this is weird.

But please don't mention flies. :scared: I'm still infested. My vacuum bag must be stuffed.

I want to remember him as such .... not the man of the past 25 years.

10. I realize he was an amazing talent, but the rest of it
overshadows that for me. I think this is far too much coverage and absolutely unwarranted.

11. They always go in threes
Poor Michael. What a strange life you had. I hope there was a little happiness in there somewhere.

:hi:, kids!

And, RIP, Farrah! :loveya:

Keith reported earlier that MJ is giving his share of the Beatles publishing rights to Sir Paul through his will.

Interesting timing since EMI is releasing the entire remastered catalog in September.

13. Hi, Pats
:hi:

I can't wait until 9 so I can watch the second half of the RHNJ reunion and get away from all this MJ coverage.
Then I can watch the FF special on 20/20.

I seriously don't care about this.

18. I wish it wasn't wall to wall, too
The first person to the camera? Reverend Al. That's how I knew it wasn't going to go well.

Can't wait, either. I thought Tuesday's would be better. I was a little disappointed. I saw Caroline crying in the previews for this one, though. So, I'm quite intrigued. :)

Also, it turns out that most, if not all, of the accusations in the book are true. The producers say they had no idea it even existed when they did the casting. If that's true, what a ratings bonus!

And I'm not surprised it's all true. I don't trust her for a second.

And Steve won't be getting anything -- she won in court and he can't release anything.

Talk about timing! Today of all days his real star is being covered by the red carpet for the premiere of Bruno.

21. There's another Harrison Ford, too.
A silent film star of the '20s. Got his star on the Walk long before the current one did. I expect the same thing will happen when he goes--lots of people decorating the wrong star.

23. Well, I know lots of people aren't going to be happy with all the attention this gets
in the news for the next while. But you might as well face it. Nothing you can do about it. In fact, if it is a very Elvis-like death, which it seems to be, expect it only to get worse. All your fussing and fuming won't change a thing. This is how our media are. If anyone will try to break through it with some other news of the world, it will be Keith, because he doesn't like that trend much either.

I'm just going to sign off for now and watch. This is just a weird one for me. In part because of how it happened...it hits very close to home, as you know. Also, one of my sisters is his age.

So much talent, so much weirdness, packed into a person...really very much like the Elvis situation. Too much stardom WAY too soon, and, as they're saying: Never got to be a child, never learned how to be a man. In many ways, for all the money and fame, he led a very poor life. I just hope somehow he finds the peace off this earth that I suspect he never found on it.

27. Oh, and another opportunity for Keith to remind us of how many years he lived in LA
which he seems to wear like a badge of honor.

I wonder if his future would-be father-in-law is providing us with the helicopter shots. Probably.
