My father's not sick, but the man is deaf as a post. Seems he always calls us and wants to talk to us when we're out in public. You know how people hate cell phone screamers? Well, I hate being one just because my dad didn't put in his hearing aid. Sometimes have to ask him if I can call back when I'm home...

Adding: If that sounds callous, remember that I'm still trying to build a relationship with the guy as an adult, when I never had much of one (by his choice) as a kid. He keeps trying, and he's the only parent I have left, so I do my best, but sometimes it has its frustrations.
