New MSNBC Schedule!
Rita Cosby's show starts Monday, but at least "Countdown" isn't affected:

1. Very interesting.
MSNBC's primetime lineup is as follows:

"The Abrams Report," 6-7 p.m. ET (re-air 4 a.m. ET/1 a.m. PT);
"Hardball with Chris Matthews," 7-8 p.m. ET (re-air 1 a.m. ET/10 p.m. PT);
"Countdown with Keith Olbermann," 8-9 p.m. ET (re-air 12 a.m. ET/9 p.m. PT);
"Rita Cosby: Live and Direct," 9-10 p.m. ET (re-air 2 a.m. ET/11 p.m. PT);
"Scarborough Country," 10-11 p.m. ET (re-air 3 a.m. ET/12 a.m. PT)
"The Situation with Tucker Carlson" 11 p.m.-12a.m. ET.

Notice what they've done with the re-airs. They haven't moved KO, (phew! since that's when I usually catch it) they've moved the Hardball re-air in favor of The Situation live.

That's going to make their snappy new between-show transitions interesting to figure out, because live, it'll be Hardball, KO, Cosby, and tape, it'll be Situation, KO, Hardball.

2. So, they're gonna make me either stay up or reconnect my vcr!
The live show is the best because they haven't been able to edit it, but, sometimes I miss things,

9. Get a TiVo. They're the greatest thing since sliced bread.
www.tivo.com

I TiVo Countdown every night...I have a "season" pass set for it, so you only have to tell the TiVo once.

3. Oh Lord I can't wait
to see Rita's ratings crash even bigger than Tucker's.....

:popcorn:

On the upside, Rachel might be able to get some decent sleep now....

:rant: NOTE TO MSNBC (WE KNOW YOU READ US): CAN TUCKER, CAN RITA, HIRE RACHEL IF YOU WANT TO HANG ON TO THE COUNTDOWN CROWD. WATCH YOUR RATINGS GO THROUGH THE ROOF!! :rant:

sheesh.

4. Nah, that would make too much sense.
Did you see that on Inside Cable they said that people watch Countdown, tune out for Tucker and come back for Scaryborough Country?? On what PLANET?? I'm trying to figure out how they could have the same audience.

Oh well, I'm just relieved they're not moving Keith. I fear this may be the death knell for Tucker, though. Rita Cosby sounds like such a joke. We hear about what a "tough" reporter and "journalist" she is--she won't take no for an answer...yeah, she'll interview every single member of the Jackson family for an "exclusive," no matter what it takes...just what the world needs more of...

Of course, if MSNBC REALLY is serious about ratings, they will give David Gregory his own show!! Hah! :-)

5. NOW you're talking!
Get rid of Snarlboro and give David a show immediately following Keith. I don't care if Tucker stays or goes. Oh, and move Ron Reagan into primetime - he's faboo!

10. I sooooooooo agree Rev !
Though, I'm loving the fact that Tucker's show is pulling in lower ratings than Danny Abrams did...you know I was rah-rah'ing for him to be the permanent 9pm slot!

Ron does so much better without Monica Crowley, I only watch Connected when she's not on!

David Gregory needs to replace Tweety on Hardball.

Here's my dream line-up:

6pm - Ron Reagan, solo
7pm - David Gregory, tosses real hardballs in the trenches
8pm - Keith
9pm - Dan Abrams
10pm - Rita - haven't made up my mind about her yet, can't get over her uncanny resemblance to Monica Crowley.
11pm - *ucker

...and demote Scarboring, Crowley and Tweety to occasional "guest political analyst shills" that they are.

6. I'm wondering if all our letters worked?
Seriously.

Countdown stays - in both time slots - and everything else, including the Hardball replay, gets a shuffle.

Interesting.

8. Of course, if you believe a thread I found on the Daily Kos...
...because Keith has the "number one rated show" on MSNBC, and because Phil Donahue also did when he was canceled...

...Keith is DOOMED...

12. I worry about that too......
Do you guys remember Charles Grodin's show? I loved that show (but can't remember what news channel !?!). I know he pithed off sponsors and was canned. He made no secret about being liberal, as did Donahue.

13. we *made* him?
Damn, I'm surprised that boy ever goes to work, in that case. If we're doing all the heavy lifting, he might as well go to baseball games or sit around on his ass surfing for cards on eBay instead putting in several hours sifting through news stories, incorporating them into a coherent, snarky, well-timed script on a tight deadline before reading that script on the air five days a week.

Vacation weeks are a total bitch, but he does work hard, and I think KO is the person responsible for his current success. The KOEB is only a tiny fraction of his audience, even if we're the most, um, memorable. :*
