Guess the network honchos aren't so thrilled with Rita Skeeter right now.

Take a look at this from TVNewser:

"There's great consternation at 30 Rock tonight about Rita Cosby," a tipster said on Friday night. "Some of her comments are just plain stupid -- like a reference to '50 foot waves' in Galveston, where she reported from today.

"But apparently on Hardball she told some sort of story about the last time a hurricane named Rita came ashore. Did she really brag about getting a phone call from an official who told her that 'we liked your coverage so much we're naming a hurricane after you?' After all, that's not the way hurricane names are chosen. Doesn't she know that -- and doesn't she know she should avoid embarrassing herself during a category three storm?

"There's some fear that somebody, maybe Howard Kurtz, is already on this," the tipster added...

(gleefully rubbing my hands together) Tee hee. Maybe someone who can actually do something about it doesn't think Rita is the jim-dandy reporter that some others seem to think she is.

We can only hope. Then, we can stop wishing that instead of pitching a wad of paper at the end of Countdown, Keith was pitching a grenade instead--and not at the camera.

I heard it on Tweety's show. She said something like "some of the officials who are here helping out told me they liked me so much that they named the storm after me." I kid you not.

gets in the way of his reporting, but rather enhances it. Rita, OTOH, manages to make the story "all about her," from what it sounds like.
