Rev - new Minn. quarters
I read they started selling them today -- even though they're not due to be unveiled officially to the public yet. How does THAT work???

"The Minnesota quarter features a tree-lined lake with people fishing, a loon on the water, and an outline of the state surrounding its nickname, "Land of 10,000 Lakes."

2. A loon . . . hmm . . .
. . . I think there's a joke in there somewhere, but I'm too depressed to figure it out.

3. I *know* there's several jokes in there
but I have a finely honed sense of self-preservation. O8)

5. About that Minnesota Quarter:
They have a lot of little lakes. In WI, we have 2 Great Lakes, along with several smaller ones.

People in MN are more properly represented ice fishing - but that's too hard to represent.

The loon on the lake is Randy Moss. Alas, he is no longer there (remember, these quarters were designed several years ago). Randy's gone to Oakland, but the loon remains.

7. that was fun to watch.
And since you have confessed your sins, you are forgiven. :)

I understand there are loons here, too. All manner of wildlife, too. Last year, there was a grey wolf spotted in Door County (just north of me). Just yesterday, a gull stopped by the church and was "talking" to me from the rooftop. Someone saw me, and asked if I was talking to the Holy Spirit. :)

8. Something different about the iconography here . . .

. . . a *GULL* and not a dove represents the Holy Spirit in Wisconsin?

So the serialized romance novel could be said to take place in -- Holy Spirit Bay? And Rev is the heroine? Anyone giving any thought to how much farther you can push this before you have to start dodging LIGHTNING BOLTS?

And btw, just to show you how *slightly* distracted I've been for the past day or so:

I took that conversation about the Wisconsin state quarter the other night and somehow fused the idea with my search for Prince photos for the SouthPark parodies a couple days ago, put THOSE TWO ideas together when coming across an article concerning the advent of the MN quarter -- and directed the opening thread to Rev's attention! (Y'all follow that?)

Tracing the labyrinthine path from the Wisconsin quarter to SouthPark Prince to the Minnesota quarter has been as much as my brain could (safely) handle today. Rev, you're to be completely understood if you saw the original subject line and said to yourself -- "Huh?" LOL!
