47. It was a joke based on today's Dan Patrick Show.
Edited on Thu Oct-06-05 08:13 PM by BerryBush
He said Bob Wickman--Indians closer--was not the kind of guy who would test positive for steroids, but rather for spare ribs. (Wickman is built sort of like Keith. Only bigger, I think.)

Then Keith allowed as how he himself would test positive for spare ribs, too. (He didn't mention the spare vertebra.)

And the green cheese ref has to do with today's show too.

on edit: So does "BOOM goes the dynamite"...revealed on today's show as one of Keith's attempt at a catch phrase when he was 16.

His skepticism, honesty and curiosity is always a pleasure to watch. The guests were well-chosen and the whole show flowed beautifully.

74. New Yawkers in general ain't buying it. We are on permanent alert d'orange
I have to be in the city on Saturday, supposed to be pouring rain, and of course, as every New Yorker knows, you can't hail a cab in the rain, not if you want to get anywhere soon, so it'll be the subway for me.

The terror alert in NY is for the purpose of scaring those in Grand Rapids and Des Moines, it doesn't really work here, I doubt it works there either. What worries me is that they'll try the real thing if the fearmongering doesn't work anymore.

105. Please don't imply that the WH would actually try to bomb the NY subway!
What do you want to bet, they'd do it on a line KO is riding...either to scare him or to knock him off...kill two birds with one stone!

(No, I did not just say that. The above was JUST a JOKE. I repeat. JUST a JOKE. They would NEVER DO THAT...)

11. And the reason for the terrorism threat is:
A.) It's really there.
B.) We have some sort of, kind of information that it's there; or
C.) An attempt to throw the press off the scent of Rove blood.

every time a lousy president tells him it's unsafe.

Besides, how the heck else is he getting to those Yankees games? I mean, come on!

75. Just a quick note from the Cheese:
I'm with Mom & Dad, and we were watching Countdown together. When the blivet gets on, yammering on his speech, my mom turns to me, almost wild-eyed, and says "LOOK at him! He looks like a monkey!"

My mom NEVER says stuff like this, so to hear it come from her lips to God's ears....

Damn, I'm so proud of her. O8)

The thing that gets me about the blivet is his creepy smile, his teeth don't show and he looks kind of stupid and ......demonic at the same time. Just creepy. Its 'hard work' watching him to begin with, but when he smiles, my skin crawls. Ewww, I'm picturing it now.

Oh, wait - here's an idea: HE REALLY LOOKS LIKE A CHIMP!

The funny thing: as we were watching, they were really paying attention. Then a commercial, and then Oddball. My Dad looks at me and asks "why did you change the channel?" :)

I did get the impression that both of them were impressed with Keith's analysis of what was going on, his astute commentary, and the sharply pointed questions. Who knows? Maybe they'll become members of the KOEB - adjunct parental members.

108. Difference between your fridge door and a mammogram:
The fridge door doesn't have a screw to close it even tighter and tighter.

And the fridge door never says () "Now don't BREATHE."

:loveya: for Keith. I imagine most New Yorkers are cynical enough to realize someone is jerking their chain, but they still shouldn't have to go through this needless worry and they shouldn't be wasting resources on unnecessary vigilance. One of these days, a credible threat's going to come along and the authorities might under-respond out of cynicism; Not Good.

and then spewed on. I still don't believe completely that the outrage over Miers, the Quagmier if you will, is not something orchestrated by the RW. I guess I'm suspect of everything at this point. Can you blame me? I do think he needs to get her in there, along with Roberts, to adjudicate his problems away should all the scandals and criminal cases hit the high court. He's desperate enough not to care much if he's pissed off the fundaholic base, that's secondary to saving his own skin I'd think.

Hi everybody!

Keith was magnificent tonight.

My favorite line: 'I think that's what they do in Iran.' Kudos to Keith for covering that Duval County, Fla-la-la story. I just finished writing letters to my school board and the government requesting my child's name not appear on recruiter's lists. Unbelievable that they are trying to manipulate parents and kids in this county, and threaten kids with no honor roll, no sports, and no yearbook picture.

Liked the Quagmier and Miered in Controversy headlines.

KO was adorable with his opening gambit about NYC Subway terrorist threat, 'just a 'coincidence', really' 12 coincidinkies and counting.

Liked Mo Rocca's anagrams especially the last one about Sartre, can't remember it exactly Sartresheir.... OK, I'm no good with remembering anagrams but I do know who Sartre was KEITH. Never speak down to your loyal KOEBs.

I forgive you.

BTW L'Shana Tova everyone, and if Rove and Co. gets indicted (and convicted) it really will be a happy New Year.

I, too, know who Sartre was. :)

Indictments maybe not until next week, since KKKarl's not doing his softshoe until tomorrow, although the suspense is killing me. I loved O'Donnell and his explanation of the phone call Fitz's office made. LOL!

It will be the best New Year's ever if that happens. Did you see the thread in GD by this father who promised to take his son to see Karl do the perp walk in person? One of the replies was, "You're the best dad, ever!"

Recruiters are scary and the government is scarier.

How's by you?

I didn't see that thread in GD. That's funny. My kids, not so political, guess it's because their mom is a wonk. They've got to rebel you know.

O'Donnell was great, he really makes you feel as if he's in the know, and he probably is. After all, he's the one that blew Karl's cover a few months ago.

I sure hope that Fitz hands down indictments asap, I'm a little scared of what these cornered rats will do to stall for time or to change the headlines.

98. I forgot to tell you guys the cutest thing.
One of my cats, the little silky gray one (like the suit), Dusty Springfield, has taken to watching Countdown with me. She has a little pillow that she parks herself on right next to me, and she arrives every night that I watch at precisely eight o'clock, and then leaves the room when Countdown's over. Tres adorable.

I knew she was smart, just didn't know she was that smart.
