I had a near-death experience today

on DU!

When I was posting to all of the state forums about the DFA voting being extended, all of a sudden my privileges were suspended. I e-mailed Skinner and Earl and Earl wrote me back. It wasn't a problem that I was posting all of those posts, but if you post too many within too short a time period, the software automatically kicks you out.

But Earl took care of it right away and now I'm back from the dead. Tombstoned no more! It was really, really scary, though, when I thought I'd never get to see all my friends again.

Scary, huh !? I always wanted to have a DU Delegate from each state forum to get news out like this.

I know I cross post to Virginia a lot, especially items I find on the public forums.

I learned I'm in deep doo-doo if my New Mail! flashes Attention! instead...it's usually an unhappy mod :scared:

Just, boom, I couldn't post anymore. I tried to relog in and I got a message saying my privileges were suspended. I had no idea what I had done -- I never distrupt and I posted to all the state forums yesterday with no problem.

that automatically triggered a threshold in the software? Must be, as you're one of the best-behaved DUers I know. Glad it was only a temporary inconvenience; the clubhouse wouldn't be the same without you. :hi:

Earl said it was because I had posted so many posts within a very short time span. The software automatically kicks you out when you do this. It protects against spamming and freeping. I was afraid all my cross posting had done it, but he said that was okay, just to leave more time in between posts.
