Hypothyroid/Hashimoto
Bleh. Finally got a complete thyroid panel done instead of just the TSH. Turns out while the TSH is coming down from 23 to 7, my antibodies are over 1,000. The doc is still waiting on all the antibody results to come up with a game plan. From what I have read the high antibody could indicate Hashi. Anyone here ever been told they have this?

1. Here are some links
FAQs: http://www.womenshealth.gov/faq/hashimoto-thyroiditis.cfm

The scoop at a glance: http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/000371.htm

The only clinical trials I found were geared toward treating adrenal insufficiency when that's a comorbidity.

2. My daughter was diagnosed with it when she was around 8, I think.
She took synthroid for some years, for hypo. Was difficult to get dosage correct, Doc difficult to schedule. At some point she stopped the med. Now in college, complaining of fatigue, but recent test said 'normal.' I don't know, as I didn't see Doc (in college town.)

Don't know about antibody/Hashi relationship. First Doc felt her thryoid and decided then and there, and I guess tests confirmed.

PS, I'm hypo; Hashi not mentioned. Med very cheap, fyi!

3. I was diagnosed with it last fall
My understanding is that the presence of the anti-bodies are what indicate Hashimoto's disease.

I'd be happy to answer any questions I can but here's the best website I've found on it:
http://www.thyroid-info.com/

My best advice to you is get up to speed on the 'new' diagnostic levels and make sure your doctor understands/follows them. If they don't, find a doc who does (this link is a database of docs who specialize in thyroid problems and you can search by state: http://www.thyroid-info.com/topdrs/index.htm )
