Anybody here being treated for type 2 diabetes?
I'm overweight and waiting for the results of my A1C test. My question is this: if it turns out that I am insulin resistant, and if that gets treated, will I have more energy? I try to be active, but more and moe just walkling wears me out.

1. if your blood glucose is high
and if you get it under control--yes you will have a lot more energy! You'll feel ten years younger. And if you get more exercise you'll feel even better. And when you drop some weight--you'll feel wonderful.

2. When I got my thyroid under control
it gave me more energy and dropped my A1C, and then I lost more weight and picked up the exercising, which helped even more. I really relate to the walking wearing you out. I couln't walk 2-3 blocks without feeling like I was going to completely collapse. Now I walk all over the place, for hours, no big deal. How did your tests turn out?

3. Sorry, I don't know. I wonder about diabetes myself.
My recent tests show me as pre-diabetic. Scary. I don't know the first thing about nutrition for diabetes, but I am looking.

I haven't ever been overweight until the last 6 months and I've gained 40-50 pounds all at once. Ugh.

4. I harp about my thyroid
But that's what happened to me. Did they test your thyroid? The cooking group has a lot of diabetes people and healthier cooking tips. A good place to start is to include a raw fruit or vegetable in evey meal, and cut white potatoes, white flour, white sugar, white rice, white milk, everything white. It actually is an easy way to start. You can figure out your own responses to foods as you go along.

5. What is wrong with your thyroid?
I have Grave's Disease. My thyroid was destroyed with radioactivity, and I take synthroid. I hate synthroid. I don't like my endocrinologist. Her receptionist is a harpy. I have to drive a long distance to see this doctor, and if I am ten minutes late, the receptionist puts me at the bottom of the patient list and makes me wait a long time to get in to see the doc. The last time, I drove through a very bad storm, after dark, to get home. There was flooding all around me, so I had to take a detour. I was scared and angry.

I gained forty pounds after my thyroid was deactivated. I did not have a weight problem before this. Although I don't eat much, I can't seem to budge the weight. Do you have any suggestions?

Maybe finding another doctor would be good. But there are not that many endos where I live.
