LINCOLN - A well-known Lincoln (RI) Little League coach was struck and killed by a moving vehicle on Walker Street at approximately 11 a.m. Monday.
Randy Hien, 57, of 65 Grandview Ave., was struck after he emerged from his pick-up truck that he had pulled over to the side of the road only minutes before, according to Lincoln police.

Hien was a Little League coach in Lincoln for 30 years. Under his leadership, Lincoln's 12-year-old All-Star teams won five state championships and two New England regional titles. Two of his teams made trips to the Little League World Series, said Kells.

It was just two years ago that Hien barely escaped death when his vehicle was struck by another vehicle traveling the wrong way on a portion of the Route 10 ramp. That accident left Hien in a coma for four days with numerous broken bones and other injuries, but his strength and perseverance didn't prevent him from his pursuing his passion - coaching baseball.
