Are there national groups which have helped you?

I ask because my mom is still having a TREMENDOUSLY difficult time, now three years after my suddenly and unexpected passed. She is very much in the acute stage of grief still nonstop.

Surprisingly, while she is not a reader of self-help or inspirational books, she called me yesterday to tell me something which blew me away. I co-authored a book that was recently released, "Housekeeping for the Soul."

I didn't expect her to read it...I most certainly didn't expect her to GET it, as those types of books have never appealed to her. I told her not to feel badly if she couldn't get beyond the first few pages.

But she called a few hours later saying she had read the entire book, and she was in tears. It affected her profoundly, and enabled her to see her grief in a new light and perhaps gave her a little hope to start dealing with the layers of emotion tied in with the grieving process.

I'm still in shock, truth be told.

Having lost a child, I do have personal experience with the grieving process, but for some reason I never associated that particular group of people as a natural audience for the book, even though a clinical psychologist highly recommended it.

Now I'm wondering if there aren't national groups I could contact, or book clubs regarding bereavement, to see if they may have an interest in "Housekeeping for the Soul." I was never involved in any bereavement groups, so I prefer to get recommendations from others on which groups have been helpful for them.

Plus, perhaps my mom is finally ready to join such a group if there is one in her area (though we have tried this before, to no avail).
