CA cyclists: Anyone here done the Death Ride?? Post your advice here, pls.

129 miles
5 mtn passes
16,000 ft of climbing

Amazingly, it sells out every year and you can only get in via lottery. They limit the # of riders to 2600. However, I just recently scored somebody's ticket through craigslist, so I'm in. I've never done that much climbing in a day, so I'm a bit daunted, but I've been training like crazy and I think I can pull it off. Wish me luck!

I'd love to hear any advice or stories you might have to pass along. Thanks, friends!! :hi:

1. Read this.

I learned a few things from reading the diaries that these two guys posted. I know it's a mountain biking forum, but the stats are pretty close. Yeah, those were mountain bike miles! I have friends who've done it. But then they were national champions.
