Emily just got named 10 minutes ago.

so we have our 5th named storm.

good thing I checked to see if anyone beat me to it before I hit reply.

until Saturday. That sucks a lot. Emily is forcast to hit the DR friday.

It's still way too early to tell, though.

However, the one behind her looks like it will form, and if so Emily should push that one farther north. The would-be Franklin would definitely be a threat to the whole eastern US coast. Assuming it forms, of course.

Of course, I'll state again that I'm no expert. I've just been reading a lot, and I'm parroting the real experts, cherry-picking out of the diverse opinions that are out there and going with the one that seems the most plausible to me.

A hurricane this far out can do anything, but apparently out of all the hurricanes that have formed in that region, only two had a major US strike. This year looks to be special though, so maybe trends and records will be broken (some already have).
