The Real Barack Obama
Interesting article about Barack Obama's tactics in Chicago against a feminist, Alice Palmer:

"There will be backlash, Barack Obama, when you attempt to squelch women’s voices… March 13, 2008
We are all well aware of your ego inflation by now. We have watched the media use the most heinous practices against Hillary Clinton in order to trample her down and crush her, and we’ve watched you apply the same tactics, too, throughout this campaign.

Hillary Clinton and Geraldine Ferraro do not owe you any apologies for anything they have said, nor do they owe the American public an apology.

The truth of the matter is that you look like a bully and a chump. Perhaps you are, aren’t you?

For instance, what happened in Chicago to Alice Palmer? She was a Black Woman that you managed to just sweep aside, didn’t you? The truth about what you did to her is right here in WordPress, hot off the presses of the Chicago Tribune. Thanks to whoever has been kind enough to set up the blog “Against Obama.”

These are some VERY dirty tricks you pulled. Very, very dirty tricks on Alice Palmer. It was 1996, wasn’t it?

From the article above:

“The day after New Year’s 1996, operatives for Barack Obama filed into a barren hearing room of the Chicago Board of Election Commissioners."

1. This one got me:
"Many of us have no intention of voting for a logo"

Just too plain freakish....

2. Did You Read the Source Article?

One of the candidates he eliminated, long-shot contender Gha-is Askia, now says that Obama’s petition challenges belied his image as a champion of the little guy and crusader for voter rights.

“Why say you’re for a new tomorrow, then do old-style Chicago politics to remove legitimate candidates?” Askia said. “He talks about honor and democracy, but what honor is there in getting rid of every other candidate so you can run scot-free? Why not let the people decide?”

In a recent interview, Obama granted that “there’s a legitimate argument to be made that you shouldn’t create barriers to people getting on the ballot.”

But the unsparing legal tactics were justified, he said, by obvious flaws in his opponents’ signature sheets. “To my mind, we were just abiding by the rules that had been set up,” Obama recalled.

“I gave some thought to … should people be on the ballot even if they didn’t meet the requirements,” he said. “My conclusion was that if you couldn’t run a successful petition drive, then that raised questions in terms of how effective a representative you were going to be.”

Asked whether the district’s primary voters were well-served by having only one candidate, Obama smiled and said: “I think they ended up with a very good state senator.”

Where, before I gave him the benefit of the doubt, I now believe that the voices that were raised, starting January 3, for Hillary Clinton to drop out of the race probably can, indeed, be traced straight back to Obama.

4. I saw that - and I think Obama can be
viewed as a wolf in sheep's clothing....Now, I'm sure I'll get flamed for that somewhere else on this board. So be it, I have gotten so tired of this race - the party is going to implode at the convention. And as a woman, the sexism which many are denying exists, is very real: http://mediamatters.org/items/200805210002?src=20080522_castellanos-02 and I see it clearly.

3. Obama eliminated ***all*** his competition in that election
If you read the original Tribune article... it's interesting. Obama has always had no problem destroying anyone who gets in his way and he will use those "rules" that best benefit him. When I hear how Obama is defending the "will of the people" and "the voters".... I chuckle.

This guy has already fucked over two of his friends in his quest for the Holy Grail. If he'll fuck over his friends..... what would he do to the American People?

I lost complete respect for Obama when he did his little "Dan Rather" on Hillary. His campaign could have just let the 'Bosnia' thing slide but they needed a vehicle to use so they could dust off the old Right Wing Clinton smear.... "she's not trustworthy".... "she's a liar".

Obama makes Nixon look honorable.

5. Damn
FG, that may be one of the strongest pieces of criticism I've seen yet from one of our more rational posters. It makes me wonder how many are thinking similarly but don't want the hassles of GD: P.

About Bosnia, the word I heard was they were constantly sending out emails to the media, pushing the story.
