I thought Kerry was a backstabbing asshole for endorsing someone other than Edwards but this proves it. She even gave Kerry her extensive lists and fund raisers

"I cannot even imagine four more years of this," Mrs. Clinton continued. "But we have an alternative. We can elect John Kerry and John Edwards and put our country back on the right track."

Although people close to the Clintons acknowledge that Mr. Edwards is positioned to be a formidable rival should Mrs. Clinton decide to run for the presidency in 2008, they contend that her main objective now is doing all she can to help defeat Republicans, from President Bush on down.

"Does this elevate Edwards? Yes," said one person who is close to the Clintons. "But she can't do anything about that. So she'll keep doing what she has been doing all along: knocking herself out for this ticket and the party."

In an interview this week, Mrs. Clinton would not entertain thoughts about what impact the Kerry-Edwards ticket would have on her own political career. "I have two overwhelming priorities: to elect Kerry-Edwards and to elect a Democratic Senate," Mrs. Clinton said.

In addition to making campaign appearances for Mr. Kerry, Mrs. Clinton has given his campaign staff access to two of her greatest political assets: a team of well-connected fund-raisers and extensive and time-proven donor lists, according to her closest advisors.
