Criterion 2: Splitting
(BPD Performance #273)

The script turned a page
Toward promise. Finally
A happy ending in sight,
Idyllic and pastoral.
No one thought to hold their breath,
And so like grazing sheep
Were caught off guard.
When a well worn riff,
Freshly reheated
Warned of deception and wrong-doing
With the panicked cry of wolf,
Unfleeced their fear.
A twisted ending
Not new to the players.
