I was a disgusting pig today.
As you may know, I've lost about 55 lbs so far on a regimen of 1500 cal/day. light exercise and carrots/veggie snacks.
When I "cheat", I have to pay my wife a $5 fine.

Yesterday was my oldest son's birthday party, so today we had a bunch of cookies and cake in the house, as well as some cupcakes that were already 3 days old.

So I ate 2 of the cupcakes for breakfast, "to help get rid of them". ($5) Then at lunch I made turkey sandwiches and some baked curly fires that were supposed to be for the kids, but nobody wanted them so it just seemed such a waste that I ate them. ($5) Then at snack time, I really wanted to try the lovely cake our friend had made for the party (real whipped cream icing), so I had a piece of that, and a couple of the choc, chip cookies to boot ($5).

So now I'm $15 poorer, and have had almost 2500 calories today, and it's not even dinnertime.

In 4 months, I've had one or two times when I cheated a bit, but I felt like a real pig today. Now I'm going to have to have carrots for dinner and limit myself to 500 calories for tomorrow. :(

I guess we all have to let loose sometimes, but in the long run, it's just so much more satisfying and enjoyable to stick to my regiment, rather than blow all my calories on crap with zero nutrients that only gives the most ephemeral pleasure.

1. do not punish yourself tomorrow for today!
I used to do that ALL the time. You've come a long way and you're still human! Humans are NOT perfect. Move on, forget today, so you lost 15$ no biggie. Learn from it, realize where you went wrong, but for heavens sake, DO NOT PUNISH YOURSELF tomorrow. Eat normally, get on track, don't deprive yourself!!!

lecture over :)

:yourock: 55lbs gone is AWESOME!!!

hang in there.

Don't restrict your calories that low tomorrow; you'll just set yourself on a starvation/binge cycle. Go straight back into your routine, drink plenty of water, get in some activity..you'll do yourself more good and feel better than you would starving yourself.

Congrats on losing 55 lbs, you've done so well, one bad day isn't going to change that! :)

3. Hmmm....
I wasn't thinking of it as punishment, just tying to keep my daily average for the week down... I'll think about it.

4. as long as you eat healthy you shouldn't have to restrict anything
maybe you can cut out any small treats you might have each day such as a cookie or something.

but otherwise, if the food is healthy, you don't need to cut it out.

it was one day of getting off the program. it will happen sometimes. just make sure you get back on track again.
