3. WOW! That is fantastic!
What a tremendous effort and spectacular result! I'll bet you're enjoying a lot of clothes you've not been able to wear for awhile, huh? What a good feeling.... Congratulations!

5. I've had to buy two new pairs of jeans...
one size less. I'm considering these transitional because I'm planning to lose 100 pounds total. Some of my summer clothes that were tight at the beginning of the summer are already loose, so by next summer they'll be pretty useless. Not a bad thing. :-)

6. Transitional sizes can be a blessing and a curse!
It's fun when your clothes get too big but it's a headache, too. When I lost weight two years ago, I bought a bunch of size 16s because I couldn't imagine that I would get any smaller. It wasn't long before I was down to a size 12! So then I followed Dr. Phil's advice and gave away all my bigger clothes. Unfortunately, I lost weight on a liquid diet and when I went off of it, I gradually started gaining again. I'm back up to a 16 and had no clothes to wear! So I had to buy some more and I've asked for some of them back from my sister, who never got down to a 16 anyway.

What I've learned is that giving away my larger sizes doesn't guarantee that I won't regain the weight. And I'd rather wear clothes that are too big for me than too small!

I've had pretty good luck buying clothing in "lots" off of ebay. For example, I'd get a dozen or so skirts and blouses, etc. for, say, $40. I only bought from sellers who had good photos (and nearly 100 percent positive feedback.) Even then, a few pieces wouldn't fit or didn't appeal to me and I'd send those to Goodwill. But I'd say 80 to 90 percent worked out great. It was easier than garage sale shopping or even shopping at Goodwill and it got me through to the next size (going up or down!)

Congratulations on your fantastic achievement! I don't mean to be a downer by mentioning weight regain -- if you're losing by healthy changes to your eating and exercise habits, I'm sure you'll reach your goal and stay there! :toast:

7. Since I'm on Weight Watchers...
and basically eating foods I enjoy and would be happy to keep eating forever, I think I can manage not to gain back to where I started. At each level (at 50 pounds off, I'll look around and see how it's going) I'll be able to fit into some clothes more comfortably than I did before. I got the jeans from Silhouettes, for $38 each, one black and one stonewashed, so I'll just wear them into oblivion until I get to the next size.

10. Weight Watchers has turned out to be the right program for me.
I like to cook for myself at least some of the time, I live alone so I only have myself to please, and I live in NYC, where there is a wide assortment of interesting takeout when I don't want to cook. I'm not a big green vegetable eater, so that's been the biggest stretch for me. I eat carrots, tomatoes, beets and squash but not lettuce, broccoli or peppers. Not eating salad can be a real problem, so I have to work around it.
The thing that has made me successful with this program is being able to negotiate with my rebellious inner child, which my women's group leader calls my little girl. There are plenty of times when she wants pizza or cake or cookies and I have to discuss it with her and see if we can be satisfied with a really small amount of that food or if it's just not the right day to eat that. She's been getting used to eating much less and I point out to her when I've eaten too much and feel too full. I don't make myself wrong when I've eaten more of something than I should. If you want to read up on your little girl, I recommend http://search.barnesandnoble.com/booksearch/isbnInquiry.asp?userid=6K8LKvUCvj&isbn=0971854823&itm=1
It's not quite the same as doing a course with Marilyn, but is very useful.
There are no forbidden foods on Weight Watchers. It's just a matter of how much and how often. Knowing that really calms that panicky feeling of not being able to have "enough" food. I've been finding out that much less really is enough.

11. Interesting.
I recently joined to take off my "Bush weight gain" and hopefully WW will be helpful. My biggest hurdle right now is my dark beer facination LOL.

I like the dialogue you have with your "inner child." I'll have to try that! I just found the book used, I'll check it out also.

Thanks for sharing! :hi:
