Thoughts?
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=105x9147693

This struck me as odd, considering how many older men shamelessly lust after pre-teen girls. Is this evidence of a double standard? Or of men being threatened by the fact that women, too, desire younger men? In several discussions about the subject, it seems that the majority of men (and many women) believe that women only ever desire older men.

1. If any of those women were teachers sleeping with their students
we'd see quite a few men vicariously living their teenage fantasies through the underage victims but when it's a barely legal young man they can't relate to as easily opinions change. Discussions on sexuality frequently are male centric and women often feed into. The onion made this video awhile ago about Cosmo completing a study on pleasing a man-

The male anchors comment and the reaction of the women at the end are priceless.

3. It's stupid

Some men are threatened by everything. Probably define themselves by words like 'alpha', 'beta' or 'omega' Tarzan Darwin. Deep in their hearts they want to be what they consider Alpha, but alas, will remain a lowly omega, and therefore resentful, striking out at what they consider weaker targets--women. As women become stronger, with louder, more effective voices, those who have cosigned themselves to the role of the omega male become angrier, and far more vicious.

I've always been fascinated by the reaction of women to certain male icons. Watching the reaction of old Elvis or Beatles audiences, the women seem to have given themselves permission for a way to desire through intense attachment or fantasy. Watch a group of women fans you see laughter and joy. (No matter how I, personally, feel about the subject of said desire) Woman still admire Tom Jones. Young girls admire The Jonas Brothers.

A small part of the difference might be this; with men, fantasy has nothing to do with permission for desire, merely desire itself, and sexual entitlement. Watch a group of male fans, the laughter has nothing to do with joy.
